these are commissions where i design the character for you! simply give me some guidelines and i will put together a sketch -- once the sketch is approved, i will move forward with finalizing the design. design commissions are always flat colored.

artist rights

  • I reserve the right to stream the artwork's creation, post speedpaints, and share the work as an advertisement for myself or in my portfolio, all with credit to you for oc design, UNLESS an NDA is purchased

  • I reserve the right to decline a commission upfront if I feel I will not be able to complete it satisfactorily.

buyer rights

  • You CAN post the artwork (with credit to hbxplain!)

  • You CAN print the artwork for yourself

  • You CAN use the artwork as a reference for other commission artists

  • You canNOT post without credit

  • You canNOT use the artwork in monetized videos/streams UNLESS you buy a commercial license (+100% of total price)

  • You canNOT resell/redistribute on merch UNLESS you buy a merch license (+300% of total price)

  • You canNOT edit the artwork or remove the signature (don't worry, it's small)

  • You canNOT trace my work or feed it into AI

the process

  • Send in your request, with visual character reference(s). Also send pose and expression details UNLESS you want me to surprise you, in which case please say so! If getting multiple characters, please include their dynamic.

  • I will send a sketch within a week of payment being processed. You may ask for two revisions at this time - a third revision will cost +10% of the total price.

  • Note: Thank you for reading the ToS. Include the phrase "super duper fantastic" in your request and I will include three extra headshot sketches with your final artwork! :)

  • After you have approved the sketch, I will begin lining and coloring. No revisions allowed at this point UNLESS I make a mistake or deviate from your ref, in which case I will of course fix it at no extra cost to you.

  • If you MUST have a minor revision at this stage, each revision will cost +25% of the total price. Major revisions will not be allowed.

turnaround time

  • A sketch will be sent within a week of me receiving payment for your commission.

  • Most commissions have a TAT of 5-14 days.

  • Walk Cycle commissions have a TAT of 7-21 days.

  • A commission may be delayed if the commissioner is slow to respond to the sketch.

  • If there is a queue, you will be told ahead of time!

payment

  • Payment is 100% upfront.

  • Payment must take place over Ko-fi.

refunds

  • Before the first sketch is sent to you, you can get a 100% refund. After the first sketch is sent, you can still get a 75% refund. After that, no refunds will be given since I have already put significant time and effort into the artwork. Thank you for understanding!

adoptable terms of service

thank you for supporting me and my art! by buying or receiving one of my designs, you agree to these terms.my designs are for personal and commercial use. they can be regifted, but the design itself can NOT be traded or resold!you are free to:

  • edit or redesign the character you buy/receive

  • change details, lore, name, etc - modify the original artwork, WITH credit!

  • create AU versions or alternate designs

  • use the design as your streamer/youtube sona or in your monetized project (let me know, i want to support you!)

  • sell merchandise of the design

you cannot:

  • sell or trade the design

  • repost the artwork i made without credit to me

  • sell the original artwork i made

  • sell merchandise using the original art i made

  • sell new adopts based on the design, including AUs

  • feed the artwork into AI

  • use the character to promote hate speech, harrassment, or discrimination

once payment is complete:

  • you own the character/design

  • i own artwork i made for the design, and can still post that art online

  • you may gift the design to someone else

  • the sale is final

please credit hbxplain when posting the original artwork or design (if you are streaming the design or using the design in a project, credit is only required to be posted once).filing a payment chargeback after receiving the design will result in your ownership of the design being revoked, and you will be blacklisted from future sales. breaking these terms will also blacklist you from future sales.if you have questions, my DMs are always open!

commissioning me gets you not only a piece of art, but also your very own hbxplain loyalty card!every time you order a separate commission (OR buy an adoptable) from me, i will sketch the character you get drawn on an empty space on this reward card. when you get to 3, 6, and 8, you'll get some free art of a character of your choice!
